Cancer teenager being helped by six concerts in Dover and Folkestone run by the same promoter, Richard Esdale

An entertainments producer has now organised six shows to help young cancer victim Kelly Turner get life-saving treatment.

Richard Esdale has set up simultaneous shows in Dover and Folkestone both this Friday and Saturday.

These are on top of two cabaret shows at both towns later in July and in September.

Mr Esdale, producer of JIGintheBOX corr the Dover events company, has been building up the number of fundraising shows to help Kelly since her plight was revealed last month.

The 16-year-old needs just over £1 million for treatment in America for a rare and aggressive form of the disease she is suffering.

He said: “It’s important that we raise the profile to raise money for Kelly. We hope we can spread the word and help get these concerts attended by the local people who are keen to rally round Kelly to try to save her life.”

Kelly, of Dover, has several desmoplastic small round cell tumours (DSRCTs) in her abdomen, liver and the portal vein that goes into the liver but she has been told the surgery to remove them is not available on the NHS.

A last option is the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York but the cost for treatment there is now estimated at $1.5 million or just over £1m.

Musicians at the Dover shows include the 24-piece Paul Dunton Orchestra from Tunbridge Wells, Dover-based band The Ratzkins, Thanet jazz double bass player Serena Sykes and Dover flautist Paul Cheneour.

Artists performing in Folkestone include Orfila, a trio from the town, and Maidstone band Dealing with Doris.
