Reward offered after shotgun hold-up

A REWARD of £2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an armed man who robbed a service station.

The man walked into the shop area of the Total Jubilee filling station at Guston, near Dover, at 8.40pm on Saturday and approached the sales assistant at the till.

He threatened the assistant with a shotgun, and took an amount of money before fleeing from the store. The emergency services arrived at the scene quickly and are now studying CCTV footage of the incident.

Total is offering the reward in conjunction with Crimestoppers.

A spokesman for Total said: “We will not tolerate incidents of this nature. The safety and security of staff and customers is an absolute priority and the reward scheme is part of a raft of measures being introduced by the company across the country to combat forecourt crime."

It is believed the man made off on foot, climbing over a fence and through the grounds of the Duke of York’s School after the robbery. It is not known whether he had a getaway car waiting nearby.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on Dover (01304) 240055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
