Regatta attractions hit by weather

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

Poor weather hit Dover Regatta at the weekend with some attractions being cancelled.

Crowds still turned up to see the dragon boat racing, sea swims and displays by newfoundland dogs.

But there was disappointment over the cancellation or limiting of attractions including Dennis Kenyon’s Helicopter Aerobatics, the storming of the beaches by the Royal Marine Commandos and RNLI and air sea rescue displays.

Low cloud also meant the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment Tigers parachute team were unable to make a jump into the channel.

However, the fireworks display on Saturday evening was hailed as a big success.

Chairman of Dover Regatta core group Nick Bailey said: "It is just a shame the weather did not live up to the occasion."
