Puzzle over body found below cliffs

KENT Police are carrying out enquiries to try to establish the identity of a man found dead in the sea at the foot of cliffs.

The body was spotted by a member of the public near Dover just before 1pm on Sunday and was recovered by a lifeboat crew.

Police believe the body had been in the water for several days. They say the man was 5ft 6in tall with short, dark hair and had a moustache and goatee-style beard.

Police are unable to establish the ethnicity of the man at this stage.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out on Wednesday (January 18).
