POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a road accident on the A20 which claimed the life of a lorry driver.

It happened on the London-bound carriageway near the Western Heights roundabout at Dover at about 7.50pm on Wednesday.

The Dutch-registered Volvo 420 lorry with a trailer left the road and collided with a lamppost and a wall.

The Dutch driver was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford where he died shortly afterwards.
