Its crew was paged at 4.40pm on Monday, April 24.

A spokesman for the Dover RNLI said: “On passage from the Scilly Isles to her home port of Calais, the 52 ft Trewlaney experienced ongoing engine difficulties - the Dover volunteer crew were tasked to assist her back to the safety of Dover Marina and if needed offer a tow.

“A member of the crew was placed aboard to monitor the situation and she successfully made her way back to port under her own power. Well done to all involved for a successful outcome.

“Should you ever experience difficulty at sea, always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
