Hooligans hamper car blaze firefighters

POLICE are today investigating an incident in which a car was set on fire and obstacles were strewn across the road to make it more difficult for the emergency services to reach the scene.

Dover firefighters were called out just after midnight when a red Vauxhall Cavalier was found to be blazing at the junction of Poulton Close and Holmestone Road.

But when the fire crew approached the scene they found items used for road works had been moved to block the road off.

After clearing those out of the way, they drove on and came across 15 metal fence panels which had also been put across the road like hurdles.

The firefighters had to move those from the road and then dealt with the fire. The cause of the blaze is being investigated, together with who was responsible for the obstructions.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on Dover (01304) 240055.
