A teenager seriously injured when he pushed his girlfriend out of the way of a car in Dover has regained consciousness.

Will Roberts, 17, had been in a coma since the accident in London Road two weeks ago.

He was critically injured when he was hit by a car after pushing Danielle Watson, 16, out of the way.

Will's sister Natalie Drury, 16, said: "It was amazing when he opened his eyes.

"Mum has been by his bedside every day and he is going in the right direction now.

"He hasn't said anything yet but he knew who we all were.

"So many people have given messages to him on our tribute website."

Will's favourite DJ, Ironik, added his own special get-well message at a nightclub last week.

Will is a former pupil of Canterbury High School and lives in Querns Road, Canterbury.
