A suspected drink-driver who kicked a police officer in the head and spat at another as they tried to arrest him at a McDonald's drive-thru has been jailed.

Ruslanas Urbonavicius, 37, of Archers Court Road, Dover, launched the attack in Whitfield, near Dover on Sunday, November 15.

He was taken into custody and charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and two counts of assaulting a police officer.

Urbonavicius pleaded guilty to the charges at Folkestone Magistrates Court and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and banned from driving for five years.

He must also pay a £150 criminal courts charge and an £80 victim surcharge.

Chief Inspector Stephen Barlow said: "It's satisfying to know this man will be spending Christmas behind bars and might provide some comfort to the officers whom he assaulted while they were carrying out their duties.

"May I take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and peaceful Christmas and prosperous new year."
