Grandmother Catherine Morton disgusted over amount of litter in Pencester Park, Dover

A Dover grandmother has expressed her disgust at the amount of litter scattered across Pencester Park.

Catherine Morton visited the park today at 11am with her two grandchildren aged 10 and four when she saw a dumped bike in the River Dour and used condoms near a children’s climbing frame.

She said: “I took my grandchildren to the park in Pencester Road and was disgusted at what I saw.

“This is not something I want my grandchildren to see.

“I also went over to the river to see the ducks and people have chucked in a bag and a bike - why not put these by the bins for the refuse men to take away?

"We were not in there long once I saw what was on the ground.”

Pictures were posted to Facebook, where residents endeavoured to alert the incident to the council - who are believed to be closed this week.

Augusta Pearson commented on Facebook: “I’ve just rang them in relation to cleaning the path.

“Unfortunately they are shut for the Christmas break. The Gateway is open today and tomorrow to see somebody face to face if that helps.”

The Mercury has approached Dover District Council for a comment.
