DOVER carnival queen Grace Scott has been told she is no longer welcome at Aylesham Carnival this weekend.

Her mother, Louise Scott, chairman of Dover Carnival Association, said that their invitation to attend had been withdrawn because her carnival court was not recognised by Dover mayor, Cllr Jan Tranter.

Mrs Scott said she would write to the mayor to complain.

Mrs Tranter denied she had ignored the DCA court and the decision as to whether they should attend at Aylesham was nothing to do with her.

“It is becoming embarrassing to have two carnival organisations representing the town,” she said. “People begin to wonder why.

“I believe the time has come for fresh efforts to be made to merge the two organisations.”

*DCA are organising a Dickens Festival in Dover on Saturday, October 7.
