A CARER support service based in Dover hopes that people throughout Kent who provide care for relatives and friends will take advantage of its services.

This week is National Carers Week which aims to highlight the services available to the UK's six million carers.

The East Kent Carers Support Service offers one-to-one and group support to carers in Dover, Deal, Ashford, Folkestone, Canterbury and Thanet.

The services provided across East Kent include listening, advice, support and information for people who care for anyone experiencing mental distress.

Betty Hunter, from the East Kent Carer Support Service said: "If you are caring for a friend, relative or partner who has severe mental illness, then the service may be able to help with information on mental health services and put you in contact with other care givers."

For further information contact Betty Hunter on 01304 214532.
