Bronze prize for indoor rower

KENT'S Chris Price picked up a bronze medal in the Cambridge Indoor Rowing Championships, the fourth race of the 2003-4 Concept 2 British Indoor Rowing Grand Prix series.

With two events to go in the series, the Dover Rowing Club member is leading the way in the Men’s Under-23 Lightweight category.

Price was one of 200 athletes who raced over 2,000 metres at the Cambridge Regional College and hoped had to improve on his time of 7 mins 30 secs which he achieved at the third event of the series in Cardiff in December.

He said: “This time around I decided to adopt a different race plan but it didn't quite work and I recorded a time of 7:40.”

But that was still good enough to keep him at the top of the standings with 39 points ahead of his closest rivals, Pete Shiels and Dan Good, who are both on 29.

Price is action again on Sunday in the fifth race of the series at the North Of England Indoor Rowing Championships at the Manchester Velodrome.
