Attempted murder charge after pensioner stabbed in Heathfield Avenue, Dover

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a pensioner was reportedly stabbed in a home.

Police were called after a woman was attacked in Heathfield Avenue in Dover at 11.30am last Thursday (October 12).

Officers and paramedics arrived and a woman in her 70s was taken to London hospital.

She remains in a stable condition receiving treatment for injuries consistent with stab wounds.

A police spokesman said: “Following inquiries at the scene, a man who is known to the victim was arrested at a property elsewhere in the town about half an hour later.

“Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have since charged Mark Roberts with attempted murder.”

The 51-year-old, of Auden Way, Dover, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today and was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on November 14.
