Air ambulance called following medical incident at Crabble, Dover

Startled onlookers saw an air ambulance swoop in this morning.

It was at Crabble, Dover, and witnesses say that the helicopter landed on a nearby rugby field.

It was for a woman taken ill.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "We were called shortly before 11am today (Tuesday) to reports a person had been found in need of medical attention near Crabble Road.

"Ambulance crews attended the scene and we were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

A woman was assessed and given emergency treatment at the scene before being airlifted to hospital."

A spokesman for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex said: "Our crew arrived on scene at 12:12pm where they helped treat the patient who was then taken to hospital by aircraft."

Police were also called to the incident, at 11.17am.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police were called following a report of a medical incident.

"Officers attended to provide assistance to South East Coast Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex."

The air ambulance service has also been contacted by Kent Online for further details.
