JACK AISHER’S remarkable record of service to the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club at Deal has been marked by a special presentation.

A former captain and committee member, 97-year-old Mr Aisher has just completed his 40th year as club president.

After the death of the previous owner, Sir Aynsley Bridgland in 1967, Mr Aisher took on the presidency and arranged for the members to buy the club.

“Since that time, his contribution to the development of the club has been immeasurable,” said Malcolm Barden, the club captain. “Jack still plays a very active role in club life, providing both challenge and support to successive captains, board members and club members alike.

“This presentation of a silver salver to mark Jack’s 40-year service to the club as president was a wonderful occasion and showed the deep respect and affection in which he is held by everyone at the club.”
