Shortlist of three designs for new logo for Walmer Town Council near Deal

Townsfolk have their chance to give their views on a shortlist of logos for their new-status council.

Walmer Parish Council became a town council last year and in December asked local amateur and professional artists to offer a fresh design for the new era.

Three potential ones have now been chosen and people are asked to give their views on them so that one can be picked as the final official image.

It will be phased in, replacing the present logo on future documents and on signs and banners when they need renewal, so reducing expenditure.

The authority became Walmer Town Council last September.

Its design so far is a portrait of the Duke of Wellington wearing a bicorne hat.

A council spokesman said:"This may have reflected things as they were, but does not reflect today's Walmer."

"Walmer Town council would like to thank all those who participated in our logo competition. We had more than entries all of which were fantastic."
