Transport Minister to visit Deal

Transport Secretary Lord Adonis is coming to Deal to find out people’s opinions on the train services to London.

The pledge has been made to Deal MP Gywn Prosser, who met him last week to discuss the Trains4Deal campaign.

Speaking after the meeting the MP said: “Lord Adonis is well aware of my support for the new high speed train service to Dover but he also knows about my concerns that Deal is missing out both in terms of its high speed deficit and the negative impact the new trains are having on domestic services.

“I raised these concerns with him again and provided him with cuttings from the East Kent Mercury, as well as extracts from the trains4Deal campaigning material, and he has promised to respond to my representations.

“He also agreed to visit my Dover and Deal constituency with me in the coming months to glean a personal view of people’s opinions on the new high speed train service.”

The announcement of the Transport Secretary’s visit is good news for the campaigners, who are continuing to work hard to win their arguments.
