Colourful glass creations will be on display as part of the SEAS Winter Open Studios.

Teresa McMillan runs The Glass Works with her husband Sandy in St George’s Road, Deal, and is showcasing her stained glass windows, window hangings, paperweights and leaded lights as part of the event.

Visitors can come and watch her in action creating glass masterpieces which are custom made for your home.

South East Artists holds two art trails a year giving people the opportunity to view artists at home or in studio.

“Having recently moved back to Deal I felt it was nice to join SEAS and meet some great artists,” says Teresa.

“I love Deal for all the lovely people I’ve met and such creative people too. You can go into town and everyone always says hello.

“My mother lived here for years, Rowena Dupuy, she was quite a well known character. She was also an artist but she was very meticulous in her art and I’m much more abstract.”

Teresa makes colourful hangings which reflect the light through the window, she also makes small seascapes and huge stained glass windows.

She grew up in Deal and went to Dover Girls Grammar School before studying in Canterbury and eventually London where she studied textile design before working as a graphic designer.

“Then I met my husband who was a glazier and started working with glass, he taught me everything and we set up the company.”

Teresa, 56, and her husband Sandy, 57, have been in business together for 20 years.
