Luke Moon won a silver medal in the National Schools Rowing Championships at Nottingham.

The 14-year-old Walmer College pupil from Deal finished second out of 35 competitors in the 1000m event after just failing to overhaul the winner, from Peterborough, in the closing stages on Friday.

Bad weather meant the weekend programme was cancelled, which spelt disappointment for Luke’s older sister Hannah who was entered in several events.

She will now race in the Metropolitan Regatta at Dorny Lake on Saturday in crews formed by the GB Rowing.
