Rob Gillman says he will be a proud man when he leads out Dover Athletic in the club’s biggest ever game in the FA Cup at Huddersfield on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Dover skipper, a builder by trade, has become a firm fixture in the side since joining the club from Bromley last summer but while he maybe a quiet, unassuming leader on the pitch, he still gets his message across to the rest of the players.

He said: "It’s a great honour to be captain but I am not a shouter or screamer. The boys get told what I want and to be fair, they do it. I am not the loudest but I don’t think you have to be as long as you give out the correct information.

"It will be a great day on Saturday and I am looking forward to it. I just hope we can go up there and give a good account of ourselves.

"I played for Bromley against Colchester in the first round last season but it will be my first time playing in the third round and it will be a great occasion for everyone involved.

"We have to go up and treat it as a normal game, do what we have to do and not worry about them."

He added: "We started with a win at Erith Town but I thought the performance at Gillingham was one of the best I have ever been part of.

"We were better than them all over the park and then against Aldershot, the first half was pretty even but we came out in the second-half, took the game to them and they couldn’t handle it."
