Irreplaceable bracelet lost in Dover returned

A Dover woman has thanked KentOnline for posting an appeal to help her find her irreplaceable bracelet.

Natalie Louise Compson of Melbourne Avenue, misplaced the piece of jewellery, which is made from the tail hairs of her horse, Silver Fox, who died in 2013, on Tuesday last week.

KentOnline made the appeal on Monday and within hours the bracelet was returned by one of her neighbours.

Miss Compson said: “Somebody just came and knocked on my door last night. They found it in the car park near where my house is.

“They’d had family and friends stay over and thought it might have fallen out of one of the children’s bags so picked it up and took it inside.

“Then they saw the posts and realised, and brought it back.”

The 26-year-old had originally thought it had blown out of her car window while driving.

Her mother Terri Compson of Broad Lane, Betteshanger said: “It’s only value is sentimental. It was made from her horse’s tail hairs after he finally lost his battle with severe melanomas, a form of cancer, in October 2013.

"Her father and I had the bracelet made for her as a permanent memento of him that Christmas.

“He was very special to her and she was devastated.”

Miss Compson had described the bracelet, which is truly unique and had to be sent abroad to be made, as her “last little bit of him.”

She said: “I’m just so happy to have it back. It’s on my wrist now and I’m never taking it off. I might superglue the clasp up.”

She has thanked KentOnline as well as everybody who shared the story on social media, including old school friends who she hasn’t seen for years.

Her grandfather James Dunne, of Walmer, has awarded £50 to the man who returned it.
