The Olympic flame will be carried through the Dover, Deal and Sandwich area next week.
The flame is due to arrive at Dover’s Western Docks from Samphire Hoe at 4.43pm next Wednesday (July 18), ready to be taken out to the tall ship Stavros S Niarchos as it nears the end of a five-night voyage from Poole.
The ship will bring the flame into Dover Harbour where it be landed at the Prince of Wales Pier just after 6pm, ready for the start of a relay run around the town. It will be carried to the top of Castle Hill where it is due at the entrance road to Dover Castle at 6.39pm, passing under Constable’s Tower.
On Thursday the flame moves to Deal and Sandwich.The Olympic torch relay will set off at 8.27am from Deal Pier, going along Beach Street to King Street, through the High Street precinct to Sondes Road, Prince of Wales Terrace, and arriving at Deal Castle Road.
At 9.12am it will start from near the junction of Dover Road and Deal Road at Sandwich before going into New Street, arriving outside the Guildhall at 9.20am and then on to Harnet Street and Strand Street, and over the toll bridge to Great Stonar.
