An MP has revealed that her office has been repeatedly vandalised.

Natalie Elphicke says the attacks have happened as her team prepares to return there as coronavirus lockdown restrictions ease.

Her office is based at the Dover and Deal Conservative Association HQ in The Strand, Walmer.

A photo shows the front window with flyposting on it, which has also happened on previous occasions.

Someone has also put glue in the locks but nobody has broken in.

Aspokesman for Mrs Elphicke's office said that this is not believed to be a personal attack on her but part of a wider trend of offices of MPs from all parties being targeted across the country.

The spokesman added that Mrs Elphicke's constituency base, like those of many politicians, does receive abusive emails and social media posts, some of which are "vile."

"I will work with police to ensure my team are not subject to bullying, violence or intimidation." Natalie Elphicke

Mrs Elphicke said: “Vandalism and bullying of this kind is totally unacceptable and this has been reported to the police.

“But the safety of my team is paramount and I will continue to work with our local police to ensure they are not subject to bullying, violence or intimidation."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police have been made aware of reported criminal damage at a property in The Strand, Walmer.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and officers are in contact with the victim."

Mrs Elphicke's team has been working remotely in line with the present government guidance.

She said: “My team has worked incredibly hard throughout the pandemic to support me in helping residents of Dover and Deal in what has been an unprecedented time.

“As we come out of lockdown, I am keen to ensure my office continues to serve Dover and Deal effectively and efficiently and we very much look forward to returning to the office.

“It was a manifesto commitment to encourage flexible working and the pandemic has brought into sharp focus the benefits of working flexibly.

"As we return to the office, I am pleased to offer my dedicated team the opportunity for a more flexible way of working that best serves the needs of Dover and Deal."

Health Secretary Sajid Javid has said he does not expect Covid restrictions to continue past the last main lockdown lifting of July 19.
