MP Charlie Elphicke has promised to campaign for a safer alternative at 'unsafe' Beach Street, Deal

Deal MP Charlie Elphicke has pledged to take action over the “unsafe” bend on Beach Street.

Mr Elphicke said he will take up the issue with Kent County Council for it to investigate and resolve.

Having listened to the concerns of Beach Street people – including Black Douglas Coffee House owners Dalziel and Paul Douglas and resident Esme Chilton – he has vowed to take up the matter on their behalf.

Mr Elphicke said: “The corner on Beach Street by the Royal Hotel is very dangerous.

“The road is narrow and the pavement is low. People on foot are at risk from bike and car."

It follows a serious accident involving a cyclist and pedestrian in April where the air ambulance was called.
