Sammy Moore looks certain to leave Dover Athletic after attending pre-season training with AFC Wimbledon.

New Whites manager Martin Hayes had said he wanted to see the 22-year-old in training and in the opening pre-season games, along with defender Dean Hill, before deciding whether to offer the pair fresh contracts.

Hill duly turned up for the opening training sessions and is expected to stay at the club but Moore (pictured) failed to show and Hayes revealed: “I have heard that Sammy is training with AFC Wimbledon but the door is still open for him here.”

Whites begin their pre-season campaign at home to League 1 side Colchester United on Saturday (3pm) and Hayes is planning to field two different teams in each half.

He said: “It will give me the chance to have a look at a lot of players and it will help to make the game a bit more competitive against a full-time club.”

Centre-half Olly Schulz may miss-out, with Hayes saying: “He’s got a bit of a tight hamstring. We’ll have a look at it but there’s no point in taking any risks at this stage.”
