The 20th anniversary of the terrorist bombing in Deal, which killed 11 musicians, will be marked with a march through the streets of Walmer by the Royal Band from Portsmouth.

Details of the route have just been confirmed and emotions will be running high on the concert day, Sunday, July 12.

Bandstand trust chairman John Perkins, a former director of music of the Royal Marines Band, said: "This will be a very special community event."

The march will be held before the annual Deal Memorial Bandstand concert and up to 10,000 people are expected to watch.

Mr Perkins added: "On July 12 the Royal Band from Portsmouth will mark the 20th anniversary of the Deal bombing by marching once again through the former South Barracks and into the streets of Walmer."

The concert is part of the summer season of free shows on the memorial bandstand.
