Kent Highways vehicle 'regularly' parks in bus stop while driver goes to Tesco Express in Deal

Angry residents have questioned the parking habits of a Kent Highways employee who leaves his car in a bus stop 'most days' while he nips to Tesco for croissants.

The white car, clearly emblazoned with Kent County Council Highways livery, has been pictured parked in the bus stop in Mill Hill, Deal.

According to locals, the car is left there frequently while the patisserie-loving owner pops into the Tesco Express for a flaky treat.

The woman who snapped the picture said: "Why should we obey Kent Highways regulations and laws when your own staff do not?

"Oh, and no, not on official business. He bought a croissant."

"Would he be able to justify his actions if a child got run over due to his vehicle blocking other motorists visibility?"

The road was painted with yellow lines 18 months ago.

Thom Morris, Kent County Council spokesman, said: “We are aware of this complaint and are investigating it within the highways team and will take appropriate action with the officer involved.

“If employees are not responding to an emergency situation we expect them to follow highway rules and are expected to park their vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.”
