Hairdresser Michaela Street was a stylist behind the scenes at London Fashion Week

A Deal hairdresser worked in a world of “madness” on Friday as she was invited to join the professionals at London Fashion Week.

Michaela Street, 26, who runs Cala Cuts in Park Avenue, applied to be a part of the experience and was accepted last Tuesday, with just days to prepare.

Her day mingling with celebrity stylists was far from what she expected after her 9am to 5pm shift consisted of transforming 26 heads of hair.

She was picked to style for designer Debbie Wingham who has clientele such as American singer Katy Perry and actress Dita von Teese who went to the show.

Miss Street was working as part of a team led by Kevin Day, the principal of Alan D Academy Future Hairstyles of 2016.

The top fashion event, which saw emerging trends showcased on the catwalk, went on from Friday to Tuesday and took place in Soho.

There was 150 people having their hair done before entering the fashion runway within a four hour slot.

Miss Street said: “The models were out of this world.

“The day was madness, I didn’t even have the chance to drink water. When the first model got up, I would turn around and the next model would be there.

“I literally scraped the hair spray from my hands on the way home.”

The mother-of-one, of Middle Street, said that scouters were loitering close to the stylists and giving out bottles of drink to stop them from collapsing due to the fast pace and pressure.

She said that new stylists with different themes would come in and give the hairdressers a set of bullet points on how their model should look.

It was up to Miss Street to think on the spot, and come up with something different for each individual.

“It was absolutely amazing,” she said.

“I can’t explain how amazing it was, being in a room with all of those stylists was mind-blowing.
