K Salon's hair and beauty students in Dover continue working through leak chaos

K College hair and beauty students have been relocated from their leaking salon back to campus.

K Salon, in Biggin Street, Dover faced chaos as the ceiling started gushing water on Wednesday last week.

The cleaner, who enters the property in the mornings, found the leak and reported it.

K Salon has been a high-street success since it opened in 2012.

Water streamed down the rear of the building, leaving the salon front unaffected.

Since this has occurred, students and tutors have resorted back to the K College campus based in Maison Dieu Road.

K Salon is run by tutors and professionals in training and offers students the chance to work in a real life environment and learn at the same time.

An assessor is due to visit the premesis this week to see how this issue can be resolved and estimate a time schedule for the work to be completed.

Receptionist technician, Nicola Redfern, said: “I have had to move everybody back to the campus.

“We haven’t even had an assessor in yet so we are going to be closed for a little while.”

Between 45 to 50 students have been affected.

All coursework and portfolios have been unharmed and were removed immediately from the K Salon.

She added: “We obviously want to keep them going as it is such a success in the highstreet, we can’t just shut down and not carry on.

“We have some lovely clients and they are only too happy that they can still get their hair done.

“They have been very understanding.”

There is no definite date as to when the salon will re-open.
