Dover boss Nicky Forster has warned of the threat posed by full-time clubs in Blue Square Bet South.

Whites came through their first big test of the season against a full-time side when they drew 2-2 at Sutton United on Tuesday.

But Forster (pictured) believes clubs like Sutton, Eastleigh, Eastbourne Borough and Salisbury, who train between three and four times a week, will have an advantage over the course of the season.

Whites discussed going full-time over the summer but decided against it. Forster said: "We would have lost 50% of the players who couldn’t turn their back on their day jobs. There was also the financial side to consider because you’d have to pay more money if you go full-time."

He added: "It creates an imbalance and has to give them an advantage over the course of the season.

"They will be physically stronger than the clubs who train twice a week and you’d imagine they’ll suffer fewer injuries as a result of better conditioning, not to mention the extra time they have to work on things."

Strikers Calum Willock, Terry Dixon (both groin) and Ben May (calf) are injury doubts ahead of Whites’ games at AFC Hornchurch on Saturday and home to Eastbourne Borough on Bank Holiday Monday.
