Barry Cogan snatched a dramatic injury-time winner as Dover grabbed a 1-0 win in a scrappy contest with Weston-Super-Mare in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.

Nicky Forster's side looked like they would be made to settle for just a point at Crabble during a game where the visitors set out to frustrate from the off.

Dover keeper Mikael Jaimez-Ruiz was saved by his woodwork when he stood motionless to watch a Weston free-kick strike a post in the opening 10 minutes.

Donovan Simmonds headed wide soon after from a free-kick and James Walker's speculative overhead kick went inches over during an opening 45 minutes of few chances.

George Purcell flashed a shot just wide after the break before a 20-man melee broke out following a late challenge involving James Walker and Weston's Jamie Laird.

Just as the game looked set to finish goalless, Cogan stepped up to find the winner in time added on. Substitute Glen Southam's low cross across the face of goal was met by Cogan at the far post, who side-footed in off Weston keeper Lloyd Irish's hand.

Dover climb to seventh with the win, two points outside the play-off places.

Has this win done enough to silence some of Nicky Forster's doubters or was Cogan's late goal a case of get-out-of-jail for Whites?
