Council take action to combat fly-tipping in Great Mongeham

Action has been taken against fly-tippers in Great Mongeham, after a resident decided to make a stand.

It is believed a company, which deposited garden waste on a bank in Northbourne Road, has received a caution by letter.

Resident Janet Anning, who witnessed the act and made the decision to alert Kent County Council, said: “It annoys me. I witnessed the crime. Someone should pay to remove it as a point of principle.”

The waste is believed to have come from the garden of one of Mrs Anning’s neighbours, after some tree maintenance was carried out.

The neighbour, who the Mercury is not naming, said: “In no way does the contractor deserve to receive a caution. The contractor did everything he could to make the area tidy.”

A Dover District Council spokesman said: “We can confirm that an investigation has been carried out, and appropriate action has been taken in accordance with our enforcement policy.”
