Cocaine found on banana ship at Dover

A huge haul of cocaine has been seized from a cargo ship at Dover’s Eastern Docks.

Border Force officers discovered six-and half kilos of the drug during a search on the MV Emerald. It was in the gratings in the hold of the ship which had arrived from South America carrying bananas.

It is estimated the drugs could have had a potential value of approximately £650,000 when cut and sold on the street.

No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
