A FAMILY had a lucky escape when a car ploughed into their house in Kent.

The Sharpe family were watching TV in their front room in Deal at around 9.30pm on Saturday when the windows suddenly came crashing in.

A green Daewoo car had hit the terraced house in College Road, knocking down the garden wall and smashing all of their front downstairs windows.

Home owner Angela Sharpe said: "We saw the headlights crash into the window. It was very scary. It was like scene from a television programme."

The police, fire and the ambulance services attended. The two passengers in the car were taken to hospital.

Mrs Sharpe added: "My son went outside to look. The car was on its side and the driver got out right away. Thankfully we were not injured, it could have been horrific."

The 18-year-old male driver was taken to the QEQM Hospital at Margate with head injuries but these are not believed to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01304 240055.
