THE funeral takes place tomorrow (Thursday) of Bob Humphreys, president of Deal and Walmer Chamber of Trade, who died at the Pilgrims Hospice at Margate. He was 59.
A service starts at 2.40pm, family flowers only. Mr Humphreys, of St Andrew’s Road, Deal, leaves a widow Susan, sons Lewis and Ben and grandchildren Vincent, Isla and Hollie.
Peter Varrall, who became Chamber of Trade president in 2011, has paid tribute to his predecessor.
He said: “Bob’s death is a sad loss for his family and the business community. He fought a valiant fight against cancer.
“Bob had run two successful businesses in the local area for many years. He was also a great supporter of sports groups and the chamber of trade.
“He served as the president of the Chamber of Trade for two years from 2009 and had organised the last two summer balls on behalf of the chamber, which were a great success. He will be sadly missed, God bless him.”
