Biker death

A biker has died in a crash on the Old Thanet Way at Herne Bay and police are appealing for witnesses. Bryn Williams, aged 42, lived in Mongeham Road, Deal, and was a Customs officer.

The fatal road traffic collision yesterday, Thursday, happened at 6.17pm at the junction with Flamingo Drive, involved two vehicles, a black Kawasaki motorcycle and a grey Seat Leon. The two occupants of the Seat, a Herne Bay woman and a child passenger, received minor injuries.

Det Sgt Miles Bishop of the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The motorcyclist was travelling along the Old Thanet Way towards Whitstable and the Seat was turning out of Flamingo Drive when the accident happened.

"We are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or events leading up to it to call us. We would particularly like to hear from the driver of a red Ford Fiesta who, although we don’t believe was involved in the collision in any way, may be an important witness."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit appeal line on 01622 798538.
