Midfielder Dorian Smith has become the latest player to link up with Blue Square South Welling ahead of the new campaign.

Smith, who has agreed terms and put pen to paper after impressing in pre-season, left Charlton at the end of last season after moving to The Valley from Tooting & Mitcham.

He played 45 minutes in Welling's 1-0 win over Dover on Saturday at Park View Road.

Despite Wings boss Andy Ford missing the game through illness, it was in many respects the best Welling performance of pre-season.

Inventive going forward, the Wings created plenty of chances against a strong Dover side.

The only goal of the game came after 10 minutes when Charlie Sheringham headed in Ellis Green's free-kick.

Both sides had chances to add to the score, with Dover impressing after the break. A total of 13 substitutions did nothing to help the flow of the match but both sides will take positives from the game ahead of the new campaign.
