Charlton 0 Peterborough 2 match report

The wait for manager Karl Robinson’s first win in charge of Charlton continued on Saturday.

Goals in either half handed Peterborough three League 1 points at The Valley and mean Robinson is yet to taste success since taking charge last month.

It was no surprise that Peterborough took a 21st-minute lead when Paul Taylor’s free-kick was headed in by Ryan Tafazolli at close range.

It was no less than the visitors deserved for a dominant first-half display as they almost made it 2-0 when Leo Da Silva Lopes turned Taylor’s cross wide.

Charlton, who were booed off at half-time, nearly levelled early in the second half when Josh Magennis hit the upright from a tight angle and then Jordan Botaka’s effort was deflected onto the woodwork with keeper Luke McGee beaten.

Peterborough doubled their lead midway through the second half when Gwion Edwards scored an excellent solo goal.

The Addicks will hope Robinson gets off the mark when he takes Charlton to Millwall on Wednesday night in League 1.
