Charlton winger Jerome Thomas' loan move to Premier League Portsmouth has been made permanent.

The 25-year-old has agreed a one-year deal at Fratton Park after initially joining the club last week on a season-long loan.

He made his debut on Sunday as a substitute in Pompey's 4-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Portsmouth will pay Charlton a fee for Thomas, who was out of contract at The Valley next summer, depending on appearances.

The transfer ends Thomas' four-and-a-half-years at The Valley after he joined the club from Arsenal for £100,000 in February 2004. He made 119 appearances for the Addicks, scoring seven goals.
