Guy Luzon has backed Roger Johnson to move on from his mistake that gifted Blackburn Rovers their second goal in their 3-1 win over Charlton at The Valley on Saturday.

Jordan Rhodes and Craig Conway put the visitors 2-0 up, with Johnson dispossessed for the second. Yoni Buyens’ penalty threatened to stoke a comeback for the home side before Rhodes put the result beyond doubt.

Luzon said: “I didn’t need to say anything (at half-time). To raise his head and continue because of this mistake is part of the game. It happened and Blackburn were out to punish us but we don’t need to create a big problem.”

Luzon added: “We started the game well. I think that the personal mistake in the goal that we conceded broke our spirit a little bit for 20 or 30 minutes.

“In the second half we had chances to come back but again a goal from a deflection for the third one and the game is over. I think since the referee’s whistle in the second half we gave everything, played positive and created chances.

“The problem was our aggression in defence. We played a bit without aggression and also it reflects in attack."

Blackburn goalkeeper Jason Steele escaped with just a yellow card for giving away the penalty when he clattered into Igor Vetokele, but Luzon refused to criticise the referee.

“Now it’s not important what I think about the situation because the referee takes the decision and we accept it," he said. "Except the penalty we also have two bars for Igor in the first half and second half.

“Tony Watt had the situaiton to score so we had the situation to come back. We tried to play positively. We lost this game because we did not concentrate in defence a little bit and were without aggression.”
