Dartford goalkeeper Jason Brown wants to see swift action taken against the individual(s) who racially abused him on Tuesday night.

Brown was the subject of racist taunts at Bristol Rovers and he wants football's governing bodies to deal with the issue quickly - and not brush it under the carpet.

The 32-year-old said: "I’ve had correspondence from Kick It Out so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and see how they deal with it. I’ve had a message left on my phone by the PFA so I’ll give them an opportunity and see how they deal with it, because I’ve been critical of them in the past. Let’s see how they take things forward.

"For me, the best way to deal with this is to deal with it swiftly. Don’t let it linger on for weeks and weeks because there tends to be a trend that follows. They say they’ll investigate and then it filters out. When you ask them ‘what’s going on?’ no-one knows.

"I want this to be dealt with swiftly."

Straight after the game, Brown posted a series of messages on Twitter describing what had happened at the Memorial Stadium. By Thursday morning, he had been retweeted almost 900 times and his timeline was awash with messages of support and shock at the incident.

He said: "The FA need to know that players are asking for tougher sanctions and more leadership when it comes to racism. The response of the supporters shows that the supporters are asking for this too.

"I want to thank both sets of supporters, Dartford and Bristol Rovers. It shows there is great urgency from supporters and players, who are trying to tackle racism.

"I had lots of support from the boys after the game. I’m lucky to have good team-mates.

"The manager called me the following morning to show his support and the co-chairmen have shown their support. The supporters have shown massive support as well, which is massive for me, because they could have been the other way."
