Youth area to open

YOUTHS and teenagers in Stone can look forward to the official opening of a youth area this Sunday.

The £40,000 area for sport, in the recreation ground in Stone, will be opened by the Dartford Mayor, Cllr Ian Armitt.

Also at the opening will be the UK’s number one basketball freestyler Tommy Baker, who will treat the crowds to his skilful displays and offer mini-master classes.

The project has come in response to a parish survey held last summer which asked for more facilities for teenagers.

Youths in Stone can look forward to using the tag wall, basketball ring, sports area and a shelter.

It will also act as a base for the detached youth workers who visit Stone two nights a week.

Just over half of the funding came from successful bids to Kent County Council, the Crime Disorder and Reduction Partnership and Bluewater Management.
