Veterans remember war hero

DARTFORD veterans have remembered pilot Trevor Oldfield at a special service in the town.

Sgt Oldfield died when his Spitfire plane came down in Hesketh Park on September 29, 1940.

More than 100 people attended the service.

Witnesses to the crash believe Sgt Oldfield did not evacuate his plane in order to prevent it from crashing into nearby houses.
