Crash on the A2: Two people cut from wreckage

Two people have been cut from the wreckage of a car and lorry crash this afternoon.

The vehicles were travelling London bound on the A2 near Dartford when the collision happened just after 1pm.

Two fire crews were called to the scene and used hydraulic equipment to free the pair, who were then passed into the care of paramedics.

Police spokesman Vicki Foster confirmed two lanes out of three were closed while crews worked at the scene but the entire carriageway was open again before 4pm.

Both patients were taken to Princess Royal Hospital, Orpington, as precaution but exact details of their condition were not known.

South East Coast Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.

The crash comes after another driver had to be cut free by firefighters after a single-vehicle crash this morning on the A2.
