Firefighters tackle two car blazes in one night across Dartford and Gravesend

Firefighters were called to two separate car blazes last night in what proved to be a busy shift.

Crews from Dartford Fire Station was alerted to a vehicle alight in the town's Heath Lane around 6.30pm.

Two engines attended and firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

There were no reported casualties.

Shortly after 4am, colleagues from Thames-side were summoned to a car alight in Hammer Street, Gravesend.

They doused the flames with jets. No injuries were reported.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Both incidents took around 30 minutes to clear and are being treated as suspicious.
