Crash on M25 near Dartford Crossing and Purfleet causes chaos as tunnel closed

Motorists are facing a torrid evening after a four-way crash closed the Dartford Tunnel.

A lorry, van and two cars collided just before 7pm between Junction 31 and 30 of the M25, with traffic now queuing back in to Kent.

Four-mile queues have built up and drivers are warned they face hour-long delays.

The tunnel was closed but was partially reopened at 8.30pm, with vehicles let through in batches controlled by traffic lights.

Motorists are having to leave the M25 at junction 31 and rejoin at junction 30.

It is unclear if anybody has been injured.

Emergency services have been approached for comment.
