A student who was transported to hospital after suffering serious injuries is in a stable condition.

An air ambulance was called to Ebbsfleet Academy in Southfleet Road shortly after 1.30pm yesterday.

Medics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the incident along with the air ambulance service and police. The teenage boy was then airlifted to a London hospital for treatment.

In a statement released yesterday Principal Gurjit Kaur Shergill said: “This afternoon there was an incident at the academy and one of our students suffered serious injuries.

"The student received swift and exceptional care from both our own members of staff and the emergency services and is currently being cared for in hospital. No one else was injured.

“I would like to thank our staff, and all of our students, for the calm, considerate and caring manner in which they have conducted themselves today.

"The academy will open as usual tomorrow (Tuesday) and we will have a comprehensive package of support available for all students and staff who need it.

“The thoughts of the whole school community are with the student and their family and friends this evening and we will do everything we can to support them.”

The school has since confirmed he is now in a stable condition.
