Charlie Sheringham has rejoined Dartford on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old striker, pictured, left Princes Park to join Bournemouth for around £25,000 in October 2011 but a troublesome foot injury kept him out of action for the whole of last year.

Sheringham fractured the navicular bone in his right foot at Brentford on Boxing Day 2011, having scored his first goal for the League 1 club in the same game.

He played 45 minutes of Bournemouth’s Hampshire Senior Cup tie against AFC Totton on March 5 but has gone 14 months without featuring in a league game.

The return of Sheringham boosts a Dartford side without a goal in two games and still adapting to life after Harry Crawford, who made his full debut for Barnet on Tuesday night.

His arrival at Princes Park comes two days after Jason Prior, also a striker, joined Tony Burman’s side on loan from AFC Wimbledon. Prior started Tuesday night’s 1-0 home defeat to Barrow in Blue Square Bet Premier.

Sheringham originally joined Dartford in June 2010. He didn’t hit top form until after Christmas of that season but his goals helped the Darts to a mid-table finish in their maiden Blue Square Bet South campaign.

He netted 11 goals in 12 appearances at the start of the following season, attracting interest from several Football League clubs. Bournemouth pursued Sheringham for several weeks and invited him for a trial before bringing him to the Seward Stadium on an 18-month contract.

Saturday’s home game against Gateshead should mark Sheringham’s second debut for the north Kent club. His loan expires on April 20, the final day of the Blue Square Bet Premier season.
