FIREFIGHTERS battled a dramatic fire in which a building in a Kent town was gutted and its roof destroyed.

The blaze gripped the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah at Watling Street, Dartford, late on Thursday night.

It had begun in a wooden outbuilding and reached the roof of the main building, eventually spreading through the roofspace.

Firefighters, who were called out just after 11pm, were at the scene for almost three hours and the blaze is now being investigated.
